My tree is dangerous due to weakness and ill-health

The safety of a tree can be compromised due to many things such as storm damage, pest and disease activity, or a growth abnormality. Correct and timely tree pruning by a qualified arborist can often prevent an eventual takedown from being necessary, but by this point, it is often too late. As valuable as trees are, we believe the safety and security of you and your family have to come first. Our qualified arborists are trained to recognise possible weaknesses in trees due to many different causes and can advise you on whether taking your tree down is the only option.

What are the signs of a dangerous tree?

It’s difficult to see the potential signs of danger in your trees but some key indicators that you need an arborist urgently are:

  1. Your tree has large holes or hollows

  2. Branches are dying and dropping

  3. Your tree starts to lean or lurch

  4. Your tree has splits

  5. Mushrooms are growing at the base of the tree

What does it cost to have a tree removed?

The average cost of tree removal is $1000 but can vary between $200 and $10,000.  People often wonder why it is so expensive.  The cost of tree removal will always depend on the complexity of the job.  Here are some elements that can contribute to the price:

  1. Site access – is there ease of access or will we need to use a crane?

  2. The complexity of the site – how close are neighbours, fences, sheds, other trees etc.

  3. Size of tree – larger trees are often more time consuming and cost more to remove.

  4. Condition of tree – trees that are very compromised are often more dangerous and therefore more expensive to remove.

  5. Stump removal – tree stumps can be unsightly and annoying.  Let us know if you would like your stump removed.
